Biography of Zain Ul Abideen
Dr. Zain Ul Abideen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Idaho. His research focuses on hardware security, trustworthy integrated circuits, security-aware electronic design automation, circuit obfuscation, physical unclonable functions, reliable digital design, and cryptographic hardware.
Before joining the University of Idaho, he was a researcher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He earned his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technology from Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia. His doctoral research investigated FPGA reconfigurability as an asset for integrated-circuit obfuscation. He earned an M.Sc. in embedded-systems security from Grenoble INP/ESISAR in France.
His work spans ASIC and FPGA implementation, hardware-security evaluation, post-quantum cryptographic accelerators, and design methods that improve trust across the semiconductor lifecycle.
